Budget and Audit

By Carl Weber

Audit/Budget Chairperson

The BCREA budget year begins September 1st and ends August 31st.  Work on the annual budget begins in August and is completed in early September.  The budget is presented to the BCREA Executive Committee at its September meeting for approval.  An audit is requested each October.  An auditor is selected from a list of auditors approved and contracted by NJEA.  Laura Ingraffea

CPA of Ringwood is our auditor.  The treasurer and I meet with the auditor several times during this process.  A Report of the auditor’s findings is given to the executive committee in November and at the December BCREA luncheon.

BCREA News and Notes

Photos Needed – Is your hobby taking great photographs?  Would you like to see one of yours in print?  We use one photograph each issue on the mailing page (where address label is located).  Can you provide us with your favorite marvelous photo of scenery – no people?  Call Ruth Kerr at 201 445 8084 or Rmysteryruth@aol.com

Many thanks to Harriet Hollema and Beverly Shaffer for proofreading this newsletter.

Life Source Hospice at Bergen Regional Medical Center is seeking volunteers to provide hospice patients and their families with much appreciated companionship.  Volunteers can also help in the hospice office doing administrative activities.

Life Source Hospice’s patients reside throughout Bergen County in their homes, at Bergen Regional Medical Center, and nursing facilities.  Volunteers determine their visitation schedules and patient location.  On the average, volunteers spend 20-30 minutes per visit per week chatting, reading, or holding the hand of a patient.  Volunteers receive on going hospice training and support by experienced hospice professionals.

If you would like more information about helping make someone’s last days meaningful please contact Stephanie Kip, Volunteer Coordinator, Life Source Hospice Services at #973-271-5549.

Valley Hospital – Kurth Cottage at Valley Hospital is in dire need of volunteers.  They would like you to work 2 hours per week but you can do as little as 2 hours per month.  See BCREA member Bev Lang at the luncheon or call her at 201 891 4123.

A Thought – Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.  (found in a fortune cookie)
